Unveiling the Writer

I am a professional scientist with a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Bristol and I have worked in the aluminium, ink-jet printing, fabrics, publishing, soda-lime, petroleum and food industries working with colloid chemistry, rheology, ceramics, coatings, waste sludges, inks, powders and starches etc. It was during a paid break between two of these positions that I had some time on my hands and decided to use it to start writing a book. I found that I enjoyed it so more books followed. This has also helped me in my day job where I have become a prolific report writer!

I am originally from Liverpool but have also lived or worked in Stevenage, Ilfracombe, Bristol, Sheffield, Banbury, Cambridge, Livingston, Helensborough, Glasgow, Saffron Walden, Thaxted, Oxford, Bicester, Hebden Bridge and Algonquin, Illinois (near Chicago).

I am married to Mara and we have an American-born, wheaten-coloured, Scottish Terrier called Ollie.
